With Genetic Preservation and Cloning technology, Trans Ova is able to make the irreplaceable, replaceable. Thank you to Karrie Vogel for sending us this testimonial and sharing Happy’s story with us!
Tell us about the animal you preserved and/or cloned! Why was he/she special?
“Happy was a very special Hereford cow. She was the runt of the herd and the owner didn’t want her. For us, it was love at first sight — we had to rescue her. She had many special goat and human friends at our farm. She watched over everyone, with special attention to our goat Tumnus. She would love to play kickball and have races through the field with us. Molasses cookies and carrots were her favorite. She always came to the fence to kiss/lick and nuzzle us to say hi. And she loved to be brushed and combed. She let us lay next to her with our heads on her belly when we needed to relax. She would always moo whenever she saw us pull in the driveway if we went out for a bit. She was always there for us if we need some comfort or to relax from a rough day.
People in our town would stop to pet her. She was cherished by many and the local celebrity. Everyone knew and loved Happy.”
How has (or will) genetic preservation and cloning impacted your livestock program and ultimately, your breed?
“Happy was an important part of our life and thanks to Trans Ova Genetics, we can keep her genetic line and temperament intact.”
Would you recommend genetic preservation and cloning to others?
“Most definitely. It’s the best way to continue a breed, a temperament and the genetics going strong.”
