In honor of Trans Ova’s 40th Anniversary, we have asked team members to reminisce about their time with Trans Ova and what excites them about the future.
Our next team member spotlight to celebrate Trans Ova Genetics’ 40th Anniversary is Diane Broek. Being the very first embryologist of Trans Ova, Diane has inspired many team members and played an intricate role in our development in her 40 years with the organization. We enjoy hearing Diane’s stories from the early days of Trans Ova and how she has watched Trans Ova shape into what it is today. Diane now serves as our Advanced Technologies Sales Manager, leading the growth of the Genetic Preservation and Cloning department. She helps our clients preserve the genetics of their Rock Stars, making the irreplaceable, replaceable.
1. What is your favorite Trans Ova memory?
Of course, I have had many great memories over the course of the last 40 years. It is very difficult to select my favorite so I will share my first favorite. Shortly after I started with the vet clinic, Dr. Faber asked me if I wanted to help with this procedure, he had learned at the University of Illinois called embryo transfer. Daryl Funk, one of the other vets in the practice was a skilled practitioner with an abundance of palpation experience. I said “Sure, it sounds like fun” ….and basically determined where I would be for the next 40 years of my life. I am very grateful to him for including me in the journey.
2. What do you like best about your time at Trans Ova?
Our technology is ever evolving. There is always something cutting edge around the next corner.
3. What excites you about the future of Trans Ova?
For Trans Ova, I think the sky is the limit. New technology, new regulatory, new team members all will contribute to new paths for Trans Ova. When we started 40 years ago, I would never have dreamt we would be doing some of the things we do today. Although I may not be around for all of it, I can’t wait to see what Trans Ova does in the next 40 years!
4. What thoughts and emotions come to mind when you think about Trans Ova’s 40th anniversary?
I can’t believe that it has been 40 years. I am very proud of Trans Ova Genetics and all that our team has accomplished. Every day I thank the Lord for putting me in the right place. How lucky am I to have found something I love to do today, and every day for the last 14,600 days?
5. In what different ways has Trans Ova excelled or grown in the last 40 years?
Oh, where do I start? When we think back on the years, Dave and I have both pondered on the fact that we were really fortunate to have done several things right, from the start. One I will mention started with brainstorming about “what will our clients want?” The phrase that was coined that day was “Eggs, Pregs, Recips and Service”. And over the last 40 years, we have been zoned in on providing those things to our clients. It is still what sets us apart from the competition today. Another would be our early adaption of innovative technology. We have heartily embraced change more than many of the companies that have come and gone over the years.
6. What is your biggest accomplishment at Trans Ova?
That I still love what I do and can’t wait to get up every morning to see what exciting thing is on the horizon. Also, the fact that after 40 years of business, I am still only 39 years old, and look like I am 29.
