In honor of Trans Ova’s 40th Anniversary, we have asked team members to reminisce about their time with Trans Ova and what excites them about the future.
Our next team member spotlight to celebrate Trans Ova Genetics’ 40th Anniversary is Sue Vonk. If you have ever worked with the regulatory department at our Iowa location, there is a good chance you have talked to Sue! In 2020, Sue celebrates 24 years with Trans Ova. Sue has worked hard to help our regulatory department grows and adapt to the ever-changing industry and regulations to ensure we continue to multiply success for our clients.
1. What is your favorite Trans Ova memory?
I don’t know that I have a “favorite” as there are so many. When I started at Trans Ova, I worked chute side with the recipient herdsmen doing pregnancy checks and processing new recipients, when Dr. Paul did the pregnancy checks we started with an Olie and Lena joke. Seeing the huge smile on my daughter Ashley’s face as Dr. Paul helped her to palpate her 1st cow, she was standing on a crate to be able to reach. Coming to work on my 40th birthday to see a cow cake and black balloons, Dave Faber came and hugged me and offer his condolences.
2. What do you like best about your time at Trans Ova?
I have learned a lot in my 24 years at Trans Ova. I have met many great people and made a lot of special relationships. Every day is different, and I love that!
3. What excites you about the future of Trans Ova?
Seeing Trans Ova expand throughout the US and internationally.
4. What thoughts and emotions come to mind when you think about Trans Ova’s 40th anniversary?
Everything changes and we have a major role in feeding the world.
5. In what different ways has Trans Ova excelled or grown in the last 40 years?
We have expanded into many markets and have gotten very efficient in our process; we need to continue to serve the farmer and rancher who helped us get where we are today.
6. What is your biggest accomplishment at Trans Ova?
Working in the Regulatory department for 24 years, I have seen many Federal and State Veterinarians come and go, building those relationships and trust over the years has given me a great sense of accomplishment. Randy Geyerman would challenge me to step back, wait 24 hours, and see the big picture.
