In honor of Trans Ova’s 40th Anniversary, we have asked team members to reminisce about their time with Trans Ova and what excites them about the future.
This week’s team member spotlight to celebrate Trans Ova Genetics’ 40th Anniversary is Samantha Graves. First, an embryologist and now a client service representative, Samantha has spent 18 years with Trans Ova helping build and grow the business in Missouri. We are so proud to have her on our team!
1. What is your favorite Trans Ova memory?
I have so many awesome memories from my years at Trans Ova involving coworkers, clients, and the amazing animals that we are blessed to work with. I have had the honor of working on National Champions animals, as well as animals in the very top echelon of EPDs in their breed. I have worked with clients who have become friends and coworkers who have become family.
2. What do you like best about your time at Trans Ova?
From my very first day, the fact that I could be a part of an animal that would someday be famous long before it would be slapped has amazed me. But, my favorite part of my job is the people. Hearing the stories behind the animal or the farm with the passion that the owner or herdsmen have for their operation reminds me of why we do what we do!
3. What excites you about the future of Trans Ova?
We have come so far in 40 years; I can’t imagine what the next 40 will bring! The possibilities are endless.
4. What thoughts and emotions come to mind when you think about Trans Ova’s 40th anniversary?
Trans Ova has stood strong through so many changes and variables of agriculture through the years. It began during some of the hardest times in the history of farming, the 1980s. It survived during the technology boom of the 90s and really began to grow and bloom during the 2000s. This is largely in part due to the drive and determination of our founders who never forgot how it all started and have not left their roles in the daily procedures. Their hard work and dedication laid the groundwork for the solid company we are now.
5. In what different ways has Trans Ova excelled or grown in the last 40 years?
It is not often that you can watch a company have the growth that Trans Ova has over the years. Going from just a handful of employees to hundreds all over the country has been humbling. There have so been so many lives touched, both clients and employees over the years that I couldn’t even begin to put a number on it. Our science, service, and abilities have evolved over the years to best suit our clients.
6. What is your biggest accomplishment at Trans Ova?
Working for Trans Ova has allowed my personal life and professional life to be one and the same. I am grateful for that opportunity and it fuels my passion for both.
