Openings on the Trans Ova Team

The Trans Ova Genetics team has dedicated themselves to providing the best technology, client service, animal care and client-oriented results available in the industry.  No other team of professionals has more experience in helping breeders achieve success.

Current Opportunities:

Part-time Lab Technician for our Sioux Center, Iowa location; the hours are Tuesday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM. This position will operate the semen sexing machine, including daily set-up and calibration.  Other responsibilities include evaulate semen for sorting, semen inventory control, maintenance of lab equipment and recordkeeping. Candidate with a B.S. degree in Biology or Animal Science preferred; strong attention to detail and good communicaiton skills.

Production Assistant for our Sioux Center, Iowa location.  This position will assist the Veterinarian's with chute side procedures including donor flushing, recipient transfers, and oocyte retrievals.  Other daily responsibilites include organize work and cattle flow with in-clinic and haul-in cattle, maintain supply inventory for procedures, recordkeeping, and cleaning work area.  Candidate with previous cattle experience preferred.  

Bovine Laboratory Manager for our Boonsboro, MD location to supervise all duties associated with the Semen Sexing Laboratory which includes medium preparation, semen sexing, lab maintenance and quality control.   Coordinate and supervise the assembly of semen sexing machine and laboratory setup when needed.  Execute lab quality management that includes SOP following performance, risk analysis and trouble shooting.  Candidate with prior supervisory experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Animal Science or a science related field preferred.

Bottle Calf Herdsman for our Iowa Calving location to work a rotating schedule of 4 days on and 3 days off. Candidate with dairy experience and the ability to operate farm equipment preferred.  This individual will provide care for calves; feed, monitor health, clean and bed housing, and general facility and equipment maintenance.

Part-time Bottle Calf Herdsman for our Iowa Calving location to work a weekend rotation, approximately 12 hours per day. Candidate with dairy experience and the ability to operate farm equipment preferred.  This individual will provide care for calves; feed, monitor health, clean and bed housing, and general facility and equipment maintenance.

Facility Maintenance Technician for our Sioux Center, Iowa location.  This position will perform maintenance and construction tasks for the entire facility; this includes repair and equipment servicing, and maintenance and repairs on building and facilities.  Candidate with previous construction or maintenance experience and running heavy equipment preferred.

Technical Services Veterinarian to be based within 2 hours of the Kankakee, Illinois area to service beef and dairy clients on-farm and at satellite centers in the SW Great Lakes region (IL, IN).  Key responsibilities include:  flush and transfer bovine in vivo embryos, perform ultrasound guided transvaginal ovum pickup procedures for bovine IVF embryo production, review and design superovulation and synchronization protocols for donors and recipients, evaluate pregnancy status and fetal gender using ultrasonography

The ideal candidate will have a DVM or equivalent, full current accreditation with the USDA-APHIS, licensure in necessary states or the ability to acquire a license, AETA certification or the ability to acquire, a passion for bovine reproduction, and a strong sense for connecting with clients.  The position does require the ability to travel including overnight stays with seasonal spikes.

Technical Services Embryologist to be based within 2 hours of the Kankakee, Illinois area to service beef and dairy clients on-farm and at satellite centers in the SW Great Lakes region (IL, IN).  Responsibilities include search for and process bovine oocytes and embryos, and other daily lab activities, coordinate work schedule, set up work areas, assist vets chute side.

Applicants should be detail oriented, have exemplary documentation habits, and excellent client service skills.  A Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or Biology is preferred.  This position does require the ability to travel including overnight stays with seasonal spikes.
